Claudio Parmiggiani is an Italian multidisciplinary artist, best known for his imprints on paper and boards, created using powder, smoke, fire, soot, and ash. Working in collage, sculpture, installation, and photography, the artist explores new ways of creating and manipulating images, shade, movement and objects.
Born in Luzzara, Italy in 1943, Parmiggiani had his first major exhibition in 1965 in Bologna. Today, Parmiggiani’s work has been widely exhibited in international museums and collections, including his six participations at the Biennale de Venezia.
