CATANIA 1938Born in Catania in 1938, but he lives and works in Milan.
He's one of the most important exponents of a movement that was born by the end of the '60s, called Pittura Analitica or Pittura Pittura. Pinelli's artistic research has allowed painting to abandon the picture frame to spread itself as fragments on the wall. Thus giving shape to color, making it concrete. His paintings acquire body and mass, and become objects with a “velvet” skin that invite people to tactile exploration.
Since 1968, Pinelli has been presenting many one-man shows as well as collective ones, among which it's worth mentioning his participation in the Venice Biennial in 1986. In 1999, the Civica Galleria d’Arte Moderna of Gallarate presented his one-man show. The same year, he participated in the collective exhibition Le soglie della pittura. Francia, Italia 1968-1998 at the Centro Espositivo della Rocca Paolina in Perugia. In 2001, Pinelli exhibited his work at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in London. In 2003, his work was presented along with Lucio Fontana and Piero Manzoni's works in the 3 X Monochrome exhibition at the Neubau der Kreissparkasse Rottweil museum in Germany.
Pinelli's relationship with Galleria Fumagalli began in 1994, with the presentation of his one-man show. At the same time, an extensive exhibition was presented at the public spaces of the Teatro Sociale of Bergamo. The exhibitions were accompanied by a catalogue with a presentation by Giovanni Maria Accame. In 1999, the gallery presented his second one-man show and published a volume with texts by Marco Meneguzzo.
